Get Your Vision Back
"He sent me so you could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit… Something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, he could see again!" Acts 9:17–18 (MSG)
There’s a difference between sight and vision.
Sight helps you see what’s in front of you.
Vision helps you see what God is doing inside of you and ahead of you.
As Dr. Dharius Daniels puts it:
“Sight is a function of the eyes. Vision is a function of the heart.”
A while back, I hit a season where I could still see but I had lost vision.
I was showing up. Doing the work. Leading the meetings. But inside, it felt foggy. Like I was running on autopilot.
One evening, I sat in my car after a long day at church and just said out loud: "God, I don’t feel it anymore. I’ve lost the why behind the what."
That prayer didn’t fix everything overnight but it was the start.
God began to restore what I couldn’t even name at the time: vision.
Not just passion or motivation. But clarity. Purpose. Fire again.
Why We Lose Vision
Sometimes it’s not that we’ve stopped believing in God. It’s that life has gotten loud. The fog creeps in and before we know it, we’re moving but no longer seeing clearly.
Distraction – When everything is pulling at your attention, it’s hard to see what really matters.
Disappointment – When life doesn’t go how you thought it would, discouragement clouds your direction.
How We Get Vision Back
The good news is God doesn’t just leave us in the dark. He gives us ways to realign, refocus, and reignite what we’ve lost. Here’s where clarity starts:
Devotion – Slow down. Pray. Listen. Vision is restored in the quiet places where God speaks.
Discipleship – God often sends people, just like He sent Ananias, to remind you of your calling and help you see again.
If you’re in a fog right now, you’re not alone. And you’re not broken.
You’re just in a moment where God wants to clear your view and renew your strength.
Don’t settle for sight. Get your vision back.
If that’s you today, here’s a prayer you can make your own:
God, I want to see again. Not just with my eyes but with my heart. Remove whatever has clouded my vision: distractions, disappointments, doubt. Bring back the fire, the clarity, the direction. Restore my vision. Speak to me again. Surround me with people who will help me see. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Make It Personal:
What distractions have been blurring my focus lately?
Where have I let disappointment steal my sense of direction?
What’s one step I can take this week to help me get my vision back: spiritually, emotionally, or practically?
