You Pray, He Plans

There was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: “Ananias.” “Yes, Master?” he answered. “Get up and go to the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus. His name is Saul. He’s there praying.” Acts 9:10–12 (MSG)

Saul was there praying.
But while he was talking to God,
God was talking to Ananias.

Quick context:
Saul was known for hunting down Christians. Ananias was a Jesus follower.
After Saul had a dramatic encounter with Jesus and was left blind, he started praying… and at that same time, God gave Ananias a vision to go help him.

That hit me.

Sometimes we pray and feel like heaven is quiet. But maybe God’s not talking to you because He’s talking to your answer. He’s not ignoring you. He’s instructing someone else on your behalf.

A while back, I was asking God for direction. I was praying consistently but hearing nothing.
Then out of nowhere, a friend called and shared something they felt God had put on their heart and it was exactly what I needed. God had been working. He was just talking to my answer.

So here’s the reminder:
While Saul was praying, God was preparing.
While Saul was asking, God was assigning.
Just because He’s not speaking to you doesn’t mean He’s not working for you.

Three things to remember as you wait:

  1. Posture yourself.
Stay humble and prayerful. Waiting doesn’t mean doing nothing, it means staying in position with a heart open to God.

  2. Practice trust.
Even when you can’t see progress, choose to believe that God is working behind the scenes for your good.

  3. Prepare for the answer.
Live like it’s on the way. Get your heart, mindset, and life ready to receive what God is putting in motion.

Maybe you’re in a season of silence right now.
But God’s still speaking, maybe not to you, but for you.
Let’s take a moment to realign our hearts and trust Him again.

God, thank You that You never waste a prayer.
Even when I can’t hear You, You’re still moving.
Help me posture myself with faith, practice trust daily, and prepare with expectancy.
I may not see it yet, but I believe You’re working on my behalf.
I’ll stay in position.
I trust You. Amen.

Make it Personal:

  • Am I staying in the right posture, or trying to control things on my own?

  • Where do I need to practice trust instead of leaning on my own understanding?

  • What would it look like to prepare today for what I’ve been praying for?

  • Do I really believe God is talking to my answer, even if I can’t hear Him right now?
