Not Perfect, Just Chosen
“Don’t argue. Go! I have picked him as my personal representative to non-Jews and kings and Jews.” Acts 9:15 (MSG)
God said this about Saul.
The same Saul who had a past full of violence, pride, and mistakes.
And still, God picked him. Not because he was perfect, but because God had a purpose.
The same is true for you.
God picked you, fully aware of your background, your battles, and your baggage.
He saw the whole story and still said, "You're Mine."
You’ve been handpicked by grace.
I remember being asked to lead something years ago that felt way bigger than me.
I immediately thought of all the reasons I wasn’t the right person: too flawed, too inexperienced, too messy.
But the person looked me in the eye and said, “We picked you on purpose.” That stuck with me.
Because so often, we disqualify ourselves from what God has already decided.
When God picks you, it gives you:
1. Confidence to Step Out
When God calls you, you don’t have to second guess your ability.
You may not feel ready, but His presence is your preparation.
You can show up with shaky hands and a steady heart, because He’s with you.
You don't have to be confident in yourself. Just confident in the One who called you.
2. Courage to Keep Going
There will be moments when your past screams louder than your purpose.
When doubts come (either from others or from within) you can rest in the truth that God chose you.
Your calling isn’t based on feelings or flawless performance.
It’s rooted in the unshakable truth: God called me, and that’s enough.
Courage isn’t about never doubting. It’s about not quitting even when you do.
3. Clarity in Who You Are
You don’t have to strive for approval. Your identity is already settled.
You’re not a placeholder. You’re His representative, just like Saul.
Knowing this brings peace and focus.
You can walk into every room knowing,
"I don’t have to be perfect. I just need to be present."
God’s calling brings identity, not just assignment.
When you know you’ve been picked, flaws and all, it changes how you show up.
You don’t have to perform or prove anything.
Just believe what God has already said about you and walk in it.
Let’s pray:
God, thank You for picking me. You see every part of me: my weaknesses, my worries, and my past and You still say I’m Yours. Give me the confidence to step out, the courage to keep going, and the clarity to walk boldly in who You’ve called me to be. I’m not perfect, but I’m chosen. And that’s enough. Amen.
Make it personal:
What have you been disqualifying yourself from that God has already called you to?
Where have you been striving for approval instead of standing in your identity?
What would it look like to live like you're already chosen?
